EN3E (1st Fireman & 3rd Class Engineer License Preparation)

This intermediate stationary engineering course is designed for individuals who meet the requirements outlined in Chapter 146, Section 50 of the Massachusetts General Laws and have experience in steam plant operations.
Course Objective:
Students will be prepared to take the 3rd Class Engineer license exam or the 1st Class Fireman exam for operating steam power plants. Additionally, upon completion, participants will receive a 30-hour Continuing Education Certificate for renewing their current license in Massachusetts.
This course can be completed in 16 weeks in-person or 13 weeks online.

- Applications and uses of steam
- Basic mathematics
- Fuel and combustion processes
- Burners and their controls
- Construction, operation, and maintenance of boilers
- Steam traps and heating systems
- Water treatment methods
- Turbines, condensers, and generators
- National and local codes and regulations regarding boilers and pressure vessels.
