Train in welding skills with hands-on instruction designed to prepare you for careers in construction and manufacturing.
This program provides a comprehensive introduction to the essential tasks performed by welders, emphasizing safety procedures for both welding and cutting operations.
Students will learn to read and interpret welding symbols from construction drawings, laying a foundation for practical application in the field.
Upon completion of this program, you will be prepared to:
- Safely set up and operate oxygen and acetylene equipment
- Perform preheating and torch-cutting of steel
- Understand welding fundamentals, including fusion and filler metal application
- Demonstrate proper hand-eye coordination and puddle control
- Read and interpret technical blueprints and welding symbols
What You’ll Learn
- Gas and arc welding theory
- MIG, TIG, GMAW, and FCAW welding processes
- Technical blueprint reading
- Welding safety and cutting procedures
- Hands-on welding techniques used in construction and manufacturing
Certification & Evaluation
Upon completion, students will be evaluated in the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW/Stick) process by an independent AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) in accordance with the current AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code – Steel.
Students who meet the code requirements will receive a Welding Operator Qualification Test Report, signed and stamped by the AWS Certified Welding Inspector.
The program can be completed in 31 weeks.
Schedule: Day or Evening - Full Time - 4 days per week
